Structural Plastics Group (SPG) is a leading manufacturer of structural foam molded plastic pallets and bulk containers for open (pooling) and closed loop applications. SPG offers comprehensive material handling solutions to streamline logistics and reduce overall supply chain costs for its customers. SPG leverages its expertise in structural foam molding and other plastic processes to supply its products to companies in various industries, including the retail, grocery, automotive, chemical and beverage sectors, among others. An offshoot of traditional high-pressure injection molding, structural foam is a low-pressure plastic molding process with key advantages including the ability to utilize lower cost tooling and lower cost recycled materials (regrind) and an ability to produce larger, more durable parts at reduced weights.

Plastic pallets continue to grow as a superior alternative to wood. Advantages of plastic include strength and durability, consistent size and shape, lower weight, resistance to infestation and 100% recyclable. At SPG, we recognize that individual customers have unique material handling requirements. Our ability to provide a responsive, customized solution that exceed these demands continuously sets us apart from our competition. SPG is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan where it occupies a 360,000 square foot manufacturing facility located on a 17 acre parcel. The site contains an office building, manufacturing plant, out buildings, a water tower system and power substation. The plant itself contains over 325,000 square feet of manufacturing, maintenance, quality control, laboratory, cafeteria, assembly and warehousing space. The facility has 16 truck wells, a rail spur and is easily accessed from two interstate highways.

SPG’s high bay production floor contains:

48 press bays (each with access to 480 volt power and a water system)
Two 40 ton cranes (facilitating tool changes and set up)
60 foot ceilings (for increased racking and storage)
Four overhead doors (allowing ample access for machine rigging and maintenance)
SPG’s facility is very well equipped to support even the largest molding programs.
